Our users want to be able to have the discount for any quote item to display as percent by defaut. Presently, it defaults to USD if there is no value in CPQ's special field of "Additional Discount Unit". Attempts to address this during Quote Line Record creation seems to fail, either by making the Additional Discount Unit field default to Percent, or leveraging a Workflow Rule or a Process Flow with a trigger criteria based on ISBLANK(TEXT(additional_discount_unit__c).
Logically, this kind of field update works without much of a hitch. It doesn't seem to be the case here. The Quote Line records are created with a blank picklist value as though my automation steps weren't there.
Any ideas?

@Shivam, thanks for the link, but I think we're past that point.
@Victor, I seem to recall this being something they were working on back before the product became SalesForce CPQ. I'd like my reps to be able to switch to differnt display formats, so taking away all but the percentile option. I'm almost positive it's been done before.
