Ability to export all records of a certain branch in the journey

I'm looking for an option to export all records of a certain branch in a Marketing Cloud journey. Inside our journeys we usually use several decision splits and conditions. The contacts that don't match the conditions are send down the 'remainder' part.
And I'm looking for a way to export these records to analyse which condition they mostly fail for example. Seems like a straightforward function, but I don't see this option anywhere?

remainder population

A known workaround I can think of is to add an extra 'update_contact' to this remainder branch and adapt a certain status in the data extension.

But an easy alternative would be to be able to export the records of each branch of the journey. A good double-check to see if the journey is working correctly.

Kind regards,

Hi Jeroen

There's no direct feature in Journey Builder that helps exporting the records for each branch - one way like you said is to do the "Update Contact" in that branch to set a flag / field so that you can query it later and identify the records that passed through that branch.

Another possible option is to check the Journey History tab - filter by the journey you need - you will find details of all the contacts having passed through each activity. There's no export option on this page - but there are chrome / browser extensions or tools that help you export table data into excel or csv. You can then do a filter based on the activity on the branch you need and see all the different contact keys that have those rows. I don't have a lot of data in my org so not sure how much data gets stored in the history - but if it does, then hope this view should help.

Hi Jayson and Shibu,

As Shibu mentioned, there is indeed the History tab where you can deepdive a little into the records which passed through the journey and filter on a specific decision split. Only the path selected in the decision split is still not very clear. So best to filter on an specific activity after the decision split. This works, only not the most practical way to check all the records at once.
