aAlert user when amount of opportunity changes and what it changes from

Hi all. 

I have created a successful workflow rule which emails my Marketing manager when a user has changed a value on the amount field on an opportuntiy.
How do I alert her to the value it changed from as well?

Hi Georgia,

You can create a separate custom (hidden from Page Layout if needed) Currency field on the Opportunity object called "Prior Amount"

Create a Workflow Rule or Process Builder criteria node for when ISCHANGED(Amount), then set the value of Prior_Amount__c to:
PRIORVALUE(Amount)

Hi Tony--thank you for that.  But how would the Prior Amount be captured?

You need to create an action to update that field using Workflow Rule or Process Builder.

So how do i combine the functions in the formula:  

ISCHANGED(Amount)
PriorValue(Amount)=Prior_Amount_C

I assume your workflow rule criteria is something along the lines of:
ISCHANGED(Amount)
Is that correct?

You just create a Field Update to update the value of Prior_Amount__c to:
PRIORVALUE(Amount)

Hi Tony. So I have created the WR:  ISCHANGED(Amount) and then WF action is update field:  PriorValue(Amount) to update Prior_Amount_c and it's not working--there were no errors found in either the rule or the action.

Is the email alert sending out successfully? You can just add that action to the same WFR criteria.

the field isn't being updated on the opportunity record--Prior Amount--it comes up blank.

Can you make sure you're referencing the proper fields? Looks to me like you are not updating the right field.

Hi Tony--the API name is different for that field and that is why it's showing up as ASR.  Is that what you mean?

Is the API name "ASR_Amount__c" with a label of "DIS Amount"?
Your workflow rule is updating the "Opportunity: DIS Amount" and not the "Opportunity: Prior DIS Amount"
