Can I bill usage twice a month?

We have a requirement to accept usage records and bill them twice a month, instead of once a month.  Is this possible in Salesforce CPQ & Billing?  We are just implementing this and the usage billing is also a new requirement for us.  I know for non-usage we need to set the Billing Day of the Month, but what about if we need to bill twice a month?

Hi Lori,

A monthly usage summary, once billed, closes and you will not be able to load usage against it.

The only way I can think of to do this is to manually create two usage summary records for each month, one that starts on the 1st and ends on the 14th and one that starts on the 15th and ends on the last day of the month. I don't see documentation on this, so it might be worth testing to see what fields are required to create the usage summary and to allow it to invoice. For example, on the Usage Summary, I know that the field Next Billing Date should have the same value as the Summary End Date and Invoice Run Processing Status should start out as Pending Billing. The Status field would start out as New and the lookup fields to Order, Order Product, Account and Order Product Consumption Schedule should be populated.

You will either have to delete the Usage Summaries that Salesforce Billing creates upon Order Product create, or modify them to be part of your solution.

Hi Lori,

 This might help-:

Thanks.  I read both of these and they don't seem to give me quite what I need.  The one talks about manually creating the invoice plan transactions and there is no way we could do that with the volume we are expecting.

I just need a way to bill whatever usage charges have come in within the last 2 weeks.  Basically bill on the 1st and  15th of the month.

Thanks Frank for this advice! I appreciate it. I have a lot of playing around to do to see what I can rig up.
