How can I send an Automated Email to a new new lead added manually in Salesforce?

I'm a new SF Enterprise user (just upgraded from the very old Contact Manager for myself an 4 staff) and though I've spent days looking for this answer, I cannot find it...

How can I send an Automated Email to a new new lead added manually in Salesforce? This is the first process I want to automate.

i.e. I meet a new 'lead' at a local networking event.. I add them as a lead, and the system automaticaly sends them a preset emai.

OR

I get a new new contact on LinkedIn (no, not through an ad or form). I add them as a new lead (I'd actually give the details to my admin assistant, who'd add them) and they receive a differnet preset email. 

etc etc.

I would have thought that this kind of basic sales activity was easy to automate! I know how to do it manually and have the email tempalted ready to go - but - sheesh.. how to automate it.

Hello Paul

If you are using sales cloud then you can send email on lead create using workflows or you can send email if any criteria meet.

However, if you are using Marketing Cloud or pardot then you can send series of emails based on action of customer using engagement Studio.

Let me know the exact flow how emails will be sent in a flow and what would be the criteria, we can send scheduled emails as well using time based workflow

I'm using Sales Cloud, and just switched up to Lightning. SF tutorials suggested I should learn Process Builder; though I think the older classic / workflow interface may be easier.

Going to have to read your tutorial a few times before understanding it; though one question... do I need to set up an integration with a mail program and SF to send outbound email (email to a client), or can SF do that without extras?

Hey Paul

You can send emails from Salesforce Sales cloud as well to your prospects/customers.
On record page of Lead/contact, you can add Activity section having Email and send mail from there only to your lead/contact.
