Why can't I add a user as a subscribed recipient to dashboard?

Hello Trailblazers,

I have a question regarding selecting a user/role and adding them as a subscriber to a dashboard. Their name and role are not available while trying to subscribe them to a dashboard in the CEO folder. Here are the details:
  • The name/role to be added/subscribed to the CEO dashboard in question is VP Finance.
  • I can choose the Director of Marketing and subscribe them to a CEO dashboard.
  • The Director of Marketing does not have CEO folder access but can subscribe to the dashboard.
  • As a test I copied the CEO Dashboard and placed it in the VP Finance folder, the name and role can then be selected to subscribe to the dashboard.
I can't figure out why the VP of Finance can't subscribe to a report in the CEO folder but the Director of Marketing can even though the Director of Marketing does not have access to the CEO folder.

Thank you very much for your help community and I have included a role hierarchy for you to reference.

Hi Stephen,

The Director of Marketing should'nt have access to the dashboard in the first place because it wasn't shared to him but I'm thinking about permission like Manage Dashboards in Public Folders that was given to him via profile or permission set.

Jayson

Hi Stephen,

Did you share the folder to the VP of Finance? When you share the folder to CEO, did you share it as Role and Internal Subordinates?

Hi Jayson,

I did not share the CEO folder with the VP of Finance. I understand that this would allow the VP of Finance to subscribe to the CEO dashboard. Help me understand why the Director of Marketing is able to subscribe to a dashboard in the CEO's folder if the CEO folder is not shared with anyone. The Director of Marketing does not have view/edit/manage access to the CEO folder.

Hi Stephen,

Could you please post a screenshot of the sharing setting of dashboard's folder?
