The component can't be displayed because the field(s) you chose for the filter are unavailable

I have created a dashboard with components that primarily use Accounts and Opportunities as the base object. I've also added on component whose base report type is Opportunity History. The issue is the component with the opportunity history report doesn't respect the dashboard filter, which are based on Account fields/data. It is showing the following error: "The component can't be displayed because the field(s) you chose for the filter are unavailable."

As a workaround, I added a custom field to the object that looks up to the account to grab the data so that there would be a field similar to the other reports, but it still isn't working.

Is there a known workaround that I can utilize to resolve this issue?

Hi Rachel,

If you're filtering your dashboard based on the account fields, you can't add opportunity history report as component even if you add a custom lookup field to the account because this report focuses primarily on the opportunity history information.
