Suddenly, picklists via Edit give no dropdown options; but via View, inline editing just fine

This one has me stumped. Thankfully, it only affects the Campaign Member object.

In the Campaign member EDIT mode, I have three custom picklists. All were working fine prior to today. But now, none of them will show their dropdown values (unless it already had a value selected).

However, if I go into VIEW mode instead, for a Campaign Member, and check out the picklists via inline editing, all of the dropdown selections are there. All three custom fields.

I've checked:
  • Field level security - set to visible for every profile.
  • Layouts - section header is visible for both Edit and View.
Incidentally, all three of these fields use the new Global Picklist Value Sets feature. Though, i've checked up on other Global Picklists, in other object types (like Account and Contact) and they're working fine there.

The only thing I can think of that is related, and does indeed coincide with this issue, is that for one of those three fields I had attempted to set up a dependancy - using the Campaign Member Status field as a parent.

I immediately realized this would be no good, as the parent/child matrix would show ALL Campain Member Statuses that have ever existed, across all campaigns. It was clunky, so I deleted the relationship.

Things seemed fine - as far as I can recall.  But this morning, the Edit view of Campaign Members is now affected with the 'missing values' picklist issue. I'm going to trudge through the changes logged by other Admins over the last 24 hours, but I wanted to post this in case someone else came across this before.

Also, if I don't find a solution, what would be the next step? Post as a bug?

Hi Jareb,  that definitely sounds strange.  Did you check out the picklist field and make sure that the values you expect to show up are active (and not inactive)?  Also, while you're checking out the picklist, make sure that no field dependencies were added to those picklists.

If it's neither of those, could the "edit" mode perhaps be some Visualforce page that's not handling the picklist correctly, instead of the out of the box detail page?

Thanks James!  This did help me run into the solution - though you're not going to like it.  I went to double-check the values themselves to be sure they were all Acitive (and not Inactive).  Of course.. they're all active. So just for kicks, I disabled one value. Then re-enabled it. Refreshed the Campaign Member test page I had up - and guess what, all three fields' dropdown values show up again.  o_O

Sounds like a glitch in the matrix.  Did you feel any deja vu? :)
