after enabling history tracking on "Account" and placing this in the account layout - I can not see the history - why?

We want to track the history for a couple of fields in the "Account" standard object. I enabled the "history tracking?" for those fields and in the Account Layout moved the "Account History" section to the visible layout. Checked this before saving and it looked perfect, the "Account History" was in the Preview. 
However - after saving the layout this does not show up in the Account view. 

I tried also a different browser and it is not visible there either. 

What happened? How can I make th Account History tracking visible?

Are you not seeing the related list at all, or just not seeing the fields in question?  They only start appearing after you choose to track them.  Also - have you already customized your layout to remove certain related lists?  That can do it too.  Easy what to check that is to see if other users can see it

Strange.  Make sure you are editing the correct layout.  Open an account, and click "Edit Layout" make sure you have added it to that layout

Scott - In the "Edit Layout" it does show the Account history section in its proper place. I also have a test account and changed the fields which we are tracking so the history should show. Bu tneither the section nor the info about the field changes appears. 

Geoffrey - I do not see the list at all. 
I have not worked with "realted lists" before and need to find out what this is and how this affects the view potentially, will ask other users as you are suggesting. Btw - we also have field tracking for leads on some fields and for contacts and all those are nicely visible, never had a problem like that before. I also used a new fresh browser with no cookies or cache and - same thing.

Hi Geoffrey and Scott, 

Actually the combination of both your responses made it work. 

I had to use "customize", not the "edit layout" link there on top of the screen, that was a really good hint. 

And yes - this was to make the related list in my view visible.
