When using List View from Lightning Home page if you click on it, it takes over Home Page Tab vs Opening New Tab

When using List View from Lightning Home page if you click on the list view to see more details the list view opens up but takes over the Home Page Tab vs  opening  a New Tab?  Is there a setting for this as its not user friendly?

Hi Patty,

Home page tab is different from the object tab unless your org has some customization. Salesforce has standard navigation and console navigation for Lightning UI(LEX).  Check what App you are using and check a console App.

Console App will allow you to open multiple tabs inside the same window. The split view will retain the list view and detail page under the console app. You need switch list view from table view to split view.

Thank you for your response.  This question is specifc to navigation from the Home Page itself while using Sales Console App.    I would expect whatever we click on to open as new Tab, much like when you click on an Item to Approve, but when click on a list to see more items, view it replaces Home Tab instead of opening a new one

I believe that's working the way Salesforce intended, it won't open a new tab until you select a record from the list view. Not necessarily the best resolution, but if you wanted to have the list view as its own tab you should be able to click on the object from the home tab dropdown while holding down a certain key (Control for Windows, Command for Mac). I've been opening them as new tabs using this method and then pinning them so that the list views are easier to access again.
