Moving to Marketing Cloud

Hi,

Currently we use Hubspot for all the marketing work and now my office has decided to move all the Marketing stuff to Salesforce from Hubspot. Salesforce is charging 12k for the imlementation and migrate all the existing and historical data from Hubspot to Salesforce Marketing cloud.

I have never worked on the Marketing cloud before. Just wanted to ask if this is something I can do and save the implementation cost? or is there many other technicalities involved?

Thanks

Hi Ankit,

The migration product Mira mentioned only migrates to Salesforce CRM and not markeitng cloud. You will need to consider a couple aspects when defining a migration approach as it won't be a clear cut approach.
  • If you have Salesforce CRM you should first define how you will track your campaigns. Whether that is using the native Campaigns object or building a custom object
  • Ensure you have Marketing Cloud Connect so that SFCRM data can sync to Marketing Cloud
  • You then need to plan what objects and fields you would like to sync across to Marketing Cloud
  • Define a Marketing Cloud Data model. Data model is crucial as it will define how you will relate all the attributes to a subscriber
  • Build your Data Extensions and automations
  • Establish the sync between Salesforce and Marketing Cloud

There are more steps but this is a starting point. You cna then import CSV directly to the Data Extensions if needed but I would advise you import to Salesforce then sync it across. An implementation approach would be to define a cutover plan that indicates how long before all campaigns in hubspot are stopped and start any new campaigns in Marketing Cloud.

Hi Ankit,

What are you migrating? Subscribers and email templates?

Also taking into consideration implementation has a lot of places where things go wrong:
  • Data structure
  • Visibility
  • Sender Domains
  • etc

If you aren't experienced in establishing this and are looking to save costs you may want to talk to some consultants. If you want some follow up advice on implementations please don't hesitate to reach out on linkedin

Hi Ankit,

Based on our previous HubSpot to Salesforce migration we would like to understand few things. HubSpot package comes with Marketing Hub, Sales, Service and CMS hub all-together. Before migrating HubSpot to salesforce marketing cloud first we need to understand which module of HubSpot are you using? Do you want migrate the Marketing hub along with CRM hub.

Where customer data is stored (Contacts).

Based on our understanding of the existing HubSpot architecture we can suggest you the migration strategy accordingly,  as not all the functionalities of HubSpot can be directly mapped to salesforce migrating cloud.

Following features can be implemented in salesforce marketing cloud from HubSpot. But as said it depends on the existing HubSpot structure:

A/B Testing
Auto-Responders
CAN SPAM Compliance
Customer Surveys
Drip Campaigns
Dynamic Content
Event Triggered Email
Workflow /Journey Builder
Image Library
Landing Pages/Web Forms
Mailing List Management
Mobile Optimized Emails
Reporting/Analytics
Subscriber Management
Template Management
In summary the migration strategy to be followed depends on your existing HubSpot architecture and what all the functionalities you want to migrate.

Hi,

I am looking for a sample migraton project plan. We're moving our campaigns and all of our customer contact and engagement data from Oracle Eloqua to Salesforce Marketing Cloud. I've created a rough outline and an IP warming schedule. If anyone has a sample template or blueprint they can share please let me know. I'm looking to put together a full project plan with timelines.
