You can use worklfow/ Process Builder To Achieve this,

Hello Naveen. Thank you for your quick reply.  I created the workflow rule but it does not allow me to select an email template to send.  Can you advise how can I do so?

While clicking on Email Template Lookup....What do you see?
Is Email Template is Visible...?
Is your Template is Active?

Since I have 2 experts here. How do I keep a copy of the email in the record? I tested and it worked, but there is no email on the record. Thank you in advanced for your help.  I am still learning ...

You cannot see it on the record. That's how it is. Another workaround is to create a Task(of type say Email) by adding another Immediate Action of type Task to the same Workflow Rule.

There is  another way to Record the Email alert in activity History in Contact,By Using Email To salesforce...

1.Enable Email to Salesforce.
2.Go To My settings under setup
