Hi Chris,

Actually, Yes you can add custom object on task.
What you have to do is (in Lightning) :

Setup --> Object Manager --> Click on your custom Object --> On details, click on Edit --> In 'Optional Features' Section, Check 'Allow Activities'

with Lightning, it take some time, but you will se your custom object on the 'Related To' Field.

And unfortunatly you can't remove standard object on the related to list.

Don't hesitate if you have any other question,

And be careful, if you enable activities, you'll add Task AND EVENT too.

You cannot truly disable Tasks on a specific object but you can make it harder for users to get to its functionality by removing the new task button from the Chatter publisher and the Activites related list on the page layout(s).

Hi Chris,
Go to your custom object and Edit it. Check the Track Activities checkbox and savd

For your custom object, make sure that 'Allow Activities' is selected for the object. To check this, go to Setup > Object Manager > Find your custom object, then select edit from the drop down menu on the far right side > Scroll down to the 'Optional Features' section and check 'Allow Activities'

Hi, I've completed the setup for my custom object as noted above. Allow Activities is checked and my custom object shows up in the Related To field Data Type list. However, I'm only able to select Account records when creating a Task. I cannot find any filters under Event, Activity or Task.
Also, in the form (edit mode) the empty field shows "Search Accounts".

Click the dropdown arrow to the left of the Search Accounts.  Then pick your custom object from the list, then it'll change to Search Custom Object.
