Emails logged from Outlook Are Not Assigned to Default Record Type Set in Profile

Help! Our sales reps are logging their emails from outlook but for some reason the messages are getting linked to the wrong record type and I can't figure out why. The user profile is set to default to record type A but for some reason, their emails are being associated with record type B. I verified the profile settings and checked all my workflows. Nothing I can see should be driving this behavior. Any suggestions about what could be driving this? Where else should I look?

Thanks, Andrew. Well, I knew that was the way the functionality worked but in going back one more time I realized that my users had been improperly associated with the wrong profile which led to the problem. Thanks for your help.

Hi Katherine,

If the default Task record Type for the Profile of the users is set to the desired record type then this should not be an issue. I would begin investigating this by identifying Email takss that are not using the expected record type then reviewing the profile associated to the user that created it. You may find that some users in your sales team do not have the same profile and in turn have a different default record type
