Apart from Profile, what can restrict access to Create record types?

Hello Community! I have strange problem - I have 11 users of the same Profile - as one has chattered me to say they cannot create record type 2, only record type 1. As the profile has access to both record types I assumed user error, however when I log in as this user I can repolicate the problem - New Acount jumps straight to the Create / Edit page for type 1. But if I log in as the other 10 users of that profile I get options of type 1 and 2 for "New Account". What can restict access to a record type or hide it for creation apart from a Profile? I'm lost! (User can see records of this type, and Edit them, just not Create). If anyone can help me I'd be extremely grateful, I'd been playing around and reading up on this one for days (meanwhile User still cannot create records!). Thanks a lot Salesforce Friends :-D

Hi Michelle!

The user might have set their personal record type settings to only use the default record type. You can check this article for the steps and more info on how to adjust this setting for the user:

Hi Michelle,

Only profiles can restrict record type access on record creation. The only thing I can think of is that the new button is not standard (ie it's a VF button) and there is something in the code that prevents this user from choosing a record type. Can you check the button and let us know?

@Arianne Thank you so much! I compared the personal settings of the user to a matching profile and they had some boxes checked. All fixed now :-D @Eric thanks. Happy Friday all!
