Email Alerts - Does the template need to be available for use?

Hello all !

I was wondering if an email template needs to be set to "available for use" in order to be used in an Email Alert? I would like to use those emails for automation purposes only, without making them available to users in the Chatter Feed email section.

As a side question (sorry for deviating), does anyone know where to find the "Sample Lightning Experience Templates"? I cannot seem to find them and would like to hide those from users too.

You can not use template in email alert of Automation, Workflow rule if template is not checked as available for use.
You will not get option to select the template in workflow rule if not marked as available for use.

Thanks you for your answer, but my issue is not how to create them (I created a few of them that we already use), but manage the ones already there, so I can hide them :)

Once you create the template that would be available publically as per the document and no way to hide them.

Create email templates to save time and standardize email sent by you or others in your organization. Use merge fields if you need them. Your page layout and field-level security settings determine which fields are available for merging.
Templates you create are automatically public: they’re available for use by others in your organization.

Would you happen to know where I can delete the ones we are not using if it was not created by me? In Setup, I can only access the classic email templates.

You can delete it, all you need to do click on insert template button on email object. List of template would be shown there with delete button.

Unfortunately it seems like some templates simply cannot be deleted as you can see below, I guess we'll just have to let them there :)

Any chance you might have the answer to the original first question about whether or not a classic email template needs to be set as "available for use" to be used in an email alert (automation, workflow rule)?

I have to give this miraculous testimony, which is so unbelievable until now. I had a problem with my ex husband 8 years which lead to our break up.
