How to create a chatter post or task and allow the user to select the User and Contact.

Question

I have a custom object called Acct Plan(child of accounts) and need to automatically create a chatter post and or task when the user marks the Acct Plan record as needing executive follow up.  The user needs the ability to select the User who needs to follow up and the Contact to follow up with.  I know I could have them create a task on the Acct Plan but I would like it to be more automated and auto populate details from the Acct Plan record on the Task or Chatter post.

Hi Justin,

If you want to incorporate both User and Contact as part of the folloup notification, create a task.

Otherwise create a chatter post, but you can only @mention users there, not contacts.

You can leverage Process Builder to do both of these.
