Opportunity queues

Hey all!

I was wondering if any of you have a workaround for opportunity queues?

I understand SFDC has restrictions for certain objects..but there has to be something that I can implement to mimic a similar process.

I've thought about some workarounds, but none exactly what I'm looking for:

1. Assign all new opportunities to a single user and send an email alert to a specified region so they can assign accordingly. (Ideally, I would want the opportunity to be assigned to the last person who was assigned an opp - like a queue!)

2. Before a lead is converted, the owner is switched to the sales person and the new owner converts it. (Still makes the decision of who gets to work on the opp manual.. :( )

Any suggestions?

I am not sure I understand the use case.

If I decide this Lead is worth converting into an Account/Contact/Opp, I can either Converf with the current Lead Owner or change the Owner of the new records.   Do I understand that you want the newly created Opp to be owned by a 'general user' who might not even be expecting the Opp instead of Owned by me (the user who did the convert)?

Jeff - think of it like a Lead only in the context of an Opportunity. She wants to create an Opportunity and assign it to a Region represented by a Queue. Reps in that region can then go into the queue and grab an opportunity to work on.  Just like Leads and Cases can function today.

Sally, the easy answer is to have the Lead assigned to the sales person before converting it. to an Opportunity.

Here is an Idea to promote, that is asking for this: https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000BqwBAAS
