We are using Customizable Forecasting (and not Collaborative forecasting nor Forecasting 1.0) and I am confused by the Forecast Date on the Opportunity Sub Tab of the Forecast tab. I am hoping someone can shed some light.

I understand that the Forecast Date on an Opportunity Forecast Report is either 1) the Close Date (if Oppty is Closed) or 2) the last day of the month for the forecast period in which the opportunity amount is reflected (if the Opportunity is not closed.) This (http://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewSolution?id=000003890&language=en_US) help doc confirms that.

When I look at the Opportunity Sub Tab of the Forecast tab I find a Forecast Date which is completely different. Meaning if I report on the same Opportunity in a forecast report I get a different Forecast Date value for the same Oppty. This Forecast Date is also sometimes blank for some records in the Forecast Tab. This Forecast date also appears to always be the First of the month.

This leads me to believe the the Forecast Date on the Opportunity Sub Tab of the Forecast tab is populated when the Forecast Period is overridden. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Or am I completely missing the boat here?

Thanks for any and all enlightenment. (I can provide screen shots if that helps.)

Thanks for the reply but I do not find an answer to my question in these documents.  Is there a specific part of the document that contains the answer / more information?
