Can one contact have multiple e-mail addresses?

Hi all, I am new to my company and this version of Salesforce. I have a client with two e-mail addresses, but there is only one field for this entry. Is there a way for a contact to have multiple e-mail addresses? I appreciate any help on this one. Thanks, Lisa

Definitely. However, you need to create these. Go to Setup | Customize | Contacts | Fields, and create the custom email fields you wish to have (I have secondary, personal, and other email address fields created for mine).

Natively, there is no way to track multiple email addresses for a contact. Speak to your system administrator and discuss with him/her. A new field can be added to track this. It all depends what the process is for your company.

If you have the description field available to you, you can probably store it there for the time being.

Hi Lisa,
Which edition of SFDC are you using?  One thing I'd consider if you're on EE or UE would be to create separate Email Address fields for Work, Personal, etc.  and add another corresponding Picklist Field to indicate which of the Email addresses is the personals "Preferred Email".  Then create a Workflow Rule with a Field Update that inserts the preferred email address into the standard Email field.

If I add another email to the contact - which email is picked when we send mass emails?

Thanks Nik - that worked great!

If I add a custom field for secondary email address, will it resolve with my EmailtoSalesforce token?

I'm having the same problem that Rafael and Megan have -- I created a secondary email address field for a contact, but Salesforce Inbox isn't picking up that email address when I try and save an email under that contact. Is it really only possible to save emails for Contacts with just one email address? If so, that makes no sense - most people have multiple email addresses and not being able to save emails for them that come from a second email address is frustrating.

I also have a similar situation but more directed towards the use of Salesforce Lightning for Outlook plugin. The clients I have will have 1 to 3 different email addresses in some cases so when my user clicks the "View" salesforce button to attach the email to their contact, no matter what other emails fields I have custom created, its only looking at the initial "Email" field and not searching the other custom fields to see that the address already exists for that contact which in turn it will not give us a place to attach the email to. or in my desk.com integration case, if it doesnt see that email address in the email field, it will create a while new contact for that 1 email. any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Please upvote the idea Multiple email addresses for a contact (https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000BrPIAA0). As of right now there are a few minor out-of-the box features that kinda sorta support this, but there is no comprehensive solution available.
