    Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, this kinda slipped through the cracks.  First off I have to profess to being a bit of a SharePoint n00b, but the Content search criteria does look pretty robust, and does support things like Tagging that could assist users in finding/bookmarking the content they need.  Also Content files can be shared and Followed/Unfollowed using Chatter as well.
