Unexpected sync error" with Salesforce for Outlook?

I have recently installed Salesforce for Outlook and although tasks and contacts are synchronising just fine, I have an "unexpected error" with events. Some of my Outlook appointments have synchronised but others have not - and the status indicator in the notification area says "synced with errors".

Checking the sync log, I find an error showing up repeatedly but I have no clue what it means.  Here is a typical extract with what seems to be the error message highlighted in bold:

Also, why has the content in my post above not been re-formatted to fit the narrower margins?

Weird!

Hi Tim, were you ever able to get a resolution on this issue?  I currently have the same issue and would be thankful for an explaination of what resolved for you.  I found this to be helpful though I haven't had a chance to try it:  https://success.salesforce.com/answers?id=90630000000gjRlAAI

I've also read there could be an issue with the .PST files Salesforce is trying to sync.  If user has a .PST file from Outlook 2003 or before, it could result in this error when attempting to sync.

Upgrading seems to be a quick path to resolution, but you may also want to look into .PST file compatibiltiy.

I was experiencing this issue and attempted a re-install of SF for Outlook, identifying the problem event, deleting all events in SFDC, and nothing worked.

I created a new Outlook Config, closed outlook, re-opened, got the message about folders being wrong, ran through Settings, and it worked... finally!

The config was identical to the previous config so it makes no sense, but at least it worked.

Lisa, how did you figure out what the problem event is? I am having the same problem but can solve it

thanks
Markus

I never figured it out for sure. I suspected it was the last event adde before the issue began which happened to be a recurring meeting that moved at least 6 times. I deleted all events in SFDC and outlook (using google calendar) and it sill didn't resolve so I assumed it was a larger issue and went with the sf for outlook reinstall and finally the new outlook configuration.

Lisa, can you detail what you mean when you say you created a new Outlook Config?  Is that something I'm doing in Outlook or do you mean the Salesforce for Outlook configuration in the admin settings?  Any assistance is much appreciated as I have a few users with this error and I can't figure it out.  Thanks!

Lisa, your solution worked for me. Thanks!
