What is so good and unique about Salesforce ?


Can anybody let me know, as to what is the reason for so much of hype about Salesforce.

What all things are so unique about it ?

I havent got an answer for it for really long, so would be really gratefull if somebody answers this.

As an implementation consultant, the greatest aspect of Salesforce is the flexibility of the platform. It doesn't do everything you want out of the box, but if you're will to invest some time into customizing it, you can get it to do all kinds of things that it wasn't initially intended to do.

Salesforce is what you make of it, and that's what makes it so great. Yes it has certain limitations, but those can usually be overcome with a 3rd party tool or custom development. 

For those that don't have access to developers, the out of the box configuration is very powerful and lets administrators accomplish many things quickly which would take weeks using legacy software (think adding a new field, or creating a new report).

From a User's perspective, it is one of the 'industry standards' so knowing how to work with Salesforce helps ensure you have the skills for career growth.

But if somebody asks me , what is Salesforce capable of doing, what should I say in that case ?
Besides the fact that it can be customized.

At its core Salesforce does the following:
