Encryption at rest using DRO, Cipher Cloud, Perspecsys, or other?

I'm looking for information on the implications and considerations on using enhanced encryption capabilities. Specifically, being able to encrypt senstive fields and still retain the functionality of Salesforce (searching, reporting, etc).

Does anyone have thoughts or experience in this arena? We have engaged Salesforce, CipherCloud, and Perspecsys in this conversation, but also interested in feedback from the community.
