Why do I (the administrator) have Report Builder, yet my users don't?

I've been merrily working away in the report builder for several months now and was stunned when my inside sales manager (also an admin profile) called today to say that her husband (in our org/not an admin) still had the old report wizard and could she please go back to the old style too?  I can't figure out how that's possible.  It appears that the report builder upgrade has been applied to the entire org - I can't find any permission checkboxes anywhere and I'm stumped.  Help?

We're using EE.

You need to enable it for their User Profile, it used to be Admin only, but now all the kids can play with it (if you let them).

Under General User Permissions
check/uncheck the Report Builder box accordingly

Where?  I don't see a permission box in the profile anywhere? I've looked under General User Permissions, but don't see anything that would apply?

Hi Bard, is this a Standard or Custom Profile? (that might be the culprit).  If you're using the Standard Admin profile you can't edit it, you 'll have to clone the Profile and then you should be able to do it.

Most of our profiles are custom.

Well I'll be goddamned...  I can do it in my DE Org but not my EE Org...  Okay, I'm going all in on this one

Okay, this is what I have so far (not a fix yet) but I haven't given up...

With Spring '11, we're delivering the following enhancements to report builder:

Report Builder Upgrade
We've released an updated version of report builder, the powerful drag-and-drop editor for reports. With this upgrade:

• All profiles get access to the report builder by default.
• The old report wizard will be available only to users in Accessibility Mode.
• Group and Professional Edition organizations can use report builder.
• You get scatter charts, a new chart type for reports.

Administrators for existing organizations must manually enable this upgrade. New organizations automatically get the latest version of report builder. If you don't see the Report Builder Upgrade section, the upgrade has already been enabled for your
organization.

Resolution

To enable report builder for all users:
1. Click Your Name ? Setup ? Customize ? Reports & Dashboards ? User Interface Settings.
2. Review the Report Builder Upgrade section of the page and click Enable.
3. Confirm your choice by clicking Yes, Enable Report Builder for All Users.
Note: Once you upgrade your organization, you no longer see the “Report Builder” permission on profiles.

Report builder is now available to all users of Group and Professional Editions! Previously, only users with the System Administrator profile could use it.

To enable report builder for a Group or Professional Edition organization, enable the report builder upgrade.

okay, I have an answer...
Unfortunately it's not a good one

"Administrators for existing organizations must manually enable this upgrade. New organizations automatically get the latest version of report builder. This upgrade will not affect any of your existing reports. Once enabled you can't undo this upgrade or return to the old report wizard."
Barbara KuntzBarbara Kuntz
Yep - saw/read that already.  I don't have the 'Report Builder Upgrade' option under reports...
Steve MolisSteve Molis
Is it possible that another user with Admin rights enabled it?  I would check your Setup Audit Trail
Barbara KuntzBarbara Kuntz
I'm pretty sure that I enabled it myself, which is why I am confused as to why someone would still be seeing the old version.  I wonder if perhaps it *is* the new version, but he's not tried creating a new report or editing an existing report.  It all looks like the old version until you do that...  Will have to check with them and report back.  Might just be a big misunderstanding...

 Hi Barb,
Does that user have "Accessibility Mode" enabled?

If you are using the same profile and one of the users has report bulder and the other report wizard , perhaps the user has activated Accessibility Mode.  You can try this ...

To enable accessibility mode:
  1. Click Your Name | Setup | My Personal Information | Personal Information.

If accessibility mode is already enabled, the path to your personal information settings is Setup | My Personal Information | Personal Information.

  2. Click Edit.
  3. Select the Accessibility Mode checkbox.
  4. Click Save.
In this case you need to disable it.
