Email to case - email signature images ends up as attachments on Account

After adding a email to case routine for our support department, an unforseen consequence has popped up: All incoming emails with image attachments (such as company logos in the signature etc) ends up as Attachments on the case, and then on the Account.

This fills up our Notes/attachments-lists on the Account object with useless info. Are there any smart solutions to avoid this/delete such files?

you technically do it within an inboundemail class but it would need to be one hell of a class.

the other option is creating a scheduled search & destroy class - once you've tryed to establish what some of the common names of the attachments are(logo.png, logo.jpg, company.png, images.png, logo.gif) - you could even put them in a custom object and just leave your class to reference that object each time.

Hi Christopher,

The company I work for just released an app that will take care of this for you, Signature Slayer for Salesforce: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000B4CTZEA3

I also wrote a blog post on the topic here: https://blog.internetcreations.com/2014/12/how-to-eliminate-email-signature-attachments-in-salesforce/

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
