How to combine Account, (primary) Contact, and Opportunity info on one report?

How can I report on Opportunity $$ amount by Lead Source, when Lead Source info is only captured on the Contact page?
- I've tried pulling Lead Source info from Contact to Oppty page automatically, using a formula for a custom field I found on here -- did not work...
- I've tried creating a new custom report type, combining Account, Contact, and Opportunity -- kind of works, but now ALL associated contacts show up, which makes the $$ show up multiple times (can not find way to indicate Primary Only)

It seems that because Primary Contact info is in a separate Opportunity section than the main detail info, it can't be chosen to limit report data.

I do not want to create any more custom fields -- my users already do not fill in fields as it is, and the fact that Lead Source info is in multiple locations already throws them.   Not to mention Campaign info, which is different but similar.

thanks in advance!!

There is a standard field on Opportunities that is populated when Leads are converted and an Opportunity is created called Lead Source. Is that not working for you?

The standard Opportunity report should have access to all of that information Account>Opportunity>PrimaryContact, and Lead Source.

Which report are you selecting as your template to build from?

There is no field "Lead Source" on our Opportunity page (maybe a developer hid it before my time?  I have not always been the Admin)
That field is on the Contact page.   However, it doesn't seem to show up in reports (the Lead Source field must be coming from the Opportunity area, and isn't populated).
(If a field is not on a page layout, does it still populate upon lead conversion??)

I have tried numerous reports, but the latest is my custom Account/Contact/Opportunity one.

Would screen shots be helpful?

Try adding it to the Opportunity Page Layout and see if that changes anything:

Setup>App Setup>Customize>Opportunities>Page Layouts

Have you tried with report Type Leads with converted Lead Information..

No, Leads with Converted Lead Info is not going to cut it because not all Accounts began as Leads, sadly.   But thanks....

Have you tried using an Opportunity Summary report?  That should give you full access to the Account and Opportunity detail information (including Lead Source), and at least some info from the Opportunity Primary Contact (name, title, etc.).

DId anyone find an answer to this? Unfortunately you can only include Lead source, but if Accounts were as an instance of there own, they had no original lead source, just an account source.

I can find no way to report on the account source?

I have come to the same conclusion. I would also like to add Account Source to an Opportunity report and it is not one the list of Account fields for some reason.

When I add Lead Source to my Opportunity page, then that becomes an option. However, I do not wish to confuse my users (not to mention adding duplicate data) by doing this.

I'm having a hard time understanding why that wouldn't be possible to add.
