I am using a time-based action in Process Builder to create an Opportunity 90 days before a Service Contract end date.  This is working fine.  Along with creating this opportunity, I'd like to send reminder e-mails to the Contact listed on the Service Contract at 90, 60 and 30 days.  The documentation states that In Process Builder, I can only send e-mail alerts.  In Visual Workflow, it states that I can send e-mails. In the reasearch I have done, it seems to me that e-mail alerts are intended for people internal to the company (co-workers, managers, etc.), not the Contacts outside the company.  Is my assumption correct?  If so, should I build the time-based action in Visual Workflow?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Here's a peek at how your email alert can be setup:

Jeff and Stephen, thanks for your help.  Stephen, the screen print you sent was very helpful and was just what I needed to get "unstuck" and move forward.

Email Alerts can be sent to anyone.  They are just a mechanism to send an email to a recipient.  You can set up your time-based email using the Process Builder so your entire 'business process' is in one place.
